OPTEX Earns CDP “A” Score for Climate Change and “A-” for Water Security for First Time
Optex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Otsu, Shiga; President & CEO: Kazuo Ikeda) has been named to CDP’s prestigious Climate Change “A List,” recognizing the company’s outstanding transparency and performance in climate action.
This recognition demonstrates that Optex’s environmental initiatives meet globally recognized leadership standards. Optex also earned an A- rating in the Water Security category.
CDP is the world’s only non-profit organization running an independent environmental disclosure system; in 2025, more than 22,100 companies disclosed environmental data through CDP. An “A” score signifies global leadership, reflecting comprehensive disclosure, advanced environmental governance, and meaningful progress toward environmental resilience. In the previous year, only 877 companies worldwide—about 4% of respondents—achieved an “A” score.
CDP maintains the world’s largest corporate environmental database and is widely trusted by investors and companies for its guidance on investment and procurement in support of a net-zero, sustainable, and nature-positive global economy.
Optex Initiatives
Optex upholds the traditional Japanese principle of Sanpo-yoshi—“Good for the seller, good for the buyer, and good for society”—while adhering to its corporate philosophy: “We strive to incorporate the principles of I.F.C.S. into daily life as a creative organization.” Based on the principle of Sanpo-yoshi, Optex believes that environmental responsibility benefits society, customers, and the company alike, and the company has implemented long-term initiatives regardless of their direct linkage to business activities.
In recent years, Optex has focused on developing products that contribute to a decarbonized society through customer use and on increasing the share of such products in its portfolio.
Since 2021, Optex has maintained a level of CO₂ reduction enabled by its products that is four times greater than the total life-cycle CO₂ emissions of the product.※
Optex has also set a target for products that contribute to customers’CO₂ reduction to account for at least 25 percent of net sales.
- This refers to CO₂ reductions achieved through product use being four times greater than total emissions from business operations, manufacturing, transportation, use, and disposal.
