Optex Launches FlipX, a Security Sensor that Blends in with Room Decor

Optex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, President & CEO: Toru Kamimura, hereinafter “Optex”) has launched the FlipX STANDARD indoor passive security sensor (hereinafter the “product”) on September 5, 2022.

Optex’s indoor passive security sensor is a security device that communicates information about intruders to alarm and alert devices in rooms and corridors. It works by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by human bodies. The product was developed as a main product alternative to existing models. It features a natural design that blends in with room decor and a flexible area setting function. Going forward, Optex will start expanding sales, mainly in North America and Europe.

Optex has been developing indoor security sensors since the 1970s. The company has carefully developed the anti-noise technology and optical design, has ensured compliance with public standards in various countries, and has sold many units both in Japan and overseas.

The FlipX STANDARD is a passive sensor like the RX Series, which is Optex’s current long-selling model, but the product has been comprehensively updated to make it more competitive. Optex will start marketing FlipX STANDARD around the world as its main model. In addition, this product is the first in a series, and Optex will work in parallel to expand the lineup.

Optex remains dedicated to the ambitious development of both products and sales offices in parallel.To date, Optex has bases in 30 countries and regions and provides products and services in 80 countries.Optex boasts a 40% global market share in outdoor security sensors, including for critical facilities, and is increasing its presence in the indoor market.

Optex will begin full-scale marketing of wall-mounted sensors, which are common in North America and Europe, unlike Japan, where indoor security sensors are generally attached to the ceiling due to the characteristics of buildings. In response to requests from various countries, Optex will gradually expand sales in the Asian region.
