Creating Prosperous Societies and Towns

Outside Security for a Safe Society

The need for security is expanding with the threat of terrorism and as crime becomes more malicious and diversified, and various measures are being put in place to meet this need. Optex is proposing a prior deterrence method of security that issues a warning from the outside when an intruder is detected, even before they enter a home or facility. Unlawful entry and crime still occurs regardless of if a person is at home or away. The Optex prior deterrence security system ensures the safety of residents by detecting any intruder early on, and issuing a warning so that the people at home can be ready to defend themselves. The 9/11 series of terrorist attacks in America in 2001 triggered a shift in the focus of security from crime reporting to crime prevention. This renewed security concept has spread rapidly, and it is now being reflected in the construction of buildings and facilities worldwide. Security sensors play a role in realizing a world in which everyone can live safely.

Switch for Automatic Doors That Is Easy to Use for Builders and Users

The main type of automatic door used in North America is the swing type of hinged door, in which the door opens and closes in front of you or toward the inside. However, large and heavy doors and revolving-style automatic doors have become a serious impediment to the physically disabled, the elderly, and other such people with who are trying to open and close or pass through them. The Optex open-close switch for automatic doors can be placed next to or nearby the automatic doors in a building, so that everyone can safely and comfortably access it. This installation of these switches is partly due to a revision of building standards in the US in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Products that comply with these revised standards are now being used in various buildings and facilities.
Moreover, many hospitals, public facilities and other buildings have installed automatic doors that also function as partitions for fire prevention, so as to prevent the spread of fire and smoke, etc. The installed doors also need to be inspected and repaired daily to ensure they can operate even during an emergency. These factors have made it necessary for open-close switches of automatic doors used by many people to be easy to install (no need for power source construction work) and low maintenance (battery replacement not required).
Optex has used energy harvesting technology, which self-generates electricity using the force of pushing, to meet these needs and drastically reduce the workload for the installation and maintenance of automatic doors.
