Lumitester Smart ATP Hygiene Monitoring System — 2024 National Commendation for Invention, Commissioner of Japan Patent Office Award and Invention Implementation Achievement Award Winner

The Lumitester Smart ATP hygiene monitoring system—a joint development from Optex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, President & CEO: Toru Kamimura, hereinafter “Optex”) and Kikkoman Biochemifa Company (Headquarters: Minato Ward, Tokyo, President & CEO: Naoki Kajiyama, hereinafter “Kikkoman Biochemifa”)—has won the Commissioner of Japan Patent Office Award and the Invention Implementation Achievement Award, recognizing outstanding inventors, as part of the 2024 National Commendation for Invention sponsored by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation.

The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 11, at The Okura Tokyo hotel in Tokyo’s Minato Ward.

Lumitester Smart is an ATP (*2) hygiene monitoring system capable of detecting and quantifying stains and residues undetectable by the human eye in restaurant kitchens, food processing facilities, healthcare facilities, and more.

It features a smooth, simple design with flat surfaces and capacitive touch switches. This makes it easy for users to keep the system clean and allows for intuitive operation. The design also makes it easy to open and close the lid and to open the rear stand.

Measurement results are synced to the cloud for remote checking. The Lumitester Smart was specifically designed (*3) for easy hygiene management, not just by trained professionals but by any user.

  • 1. The Invention Implementation Achievement Award is presented to the representative of the company or organization that owns the rights to the invention. The award for the Lumitester Smart was presented to both Optex Co., Ltd. and Kikkoman Corporation.

About the National Commendation for Invention and Commissioner of Japan Patent Office Award

The National Commendation for Invention is intended to promote improvements in science and technology and to further the development of industry by honoring those who have completed or created inventions or who have made achievements in encouraging inventions in Japan, and includes a monetary gift offered by the Imperial Household of Japan in some cases. The Commissioner of Japan Patent Office Award is a special award presented to those with inventions boasting outstanding scientific or technological noteworthiness and remarkable operational effectiveness.
