The World’s First Store Visitor and Purchase Analysis Service Using Data from Automatic Door Sensors

Putting Tangerine’s Store360 Insight to work at OMNICITY®

Optex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, President & CEO: Toru Kamimura, hereinafter “Optex”) is proud to announce the launch of the world’s first* store visitor and purchase analysis service that uses data acquired through OMNICITY—Optex’s proprietary information acquisition and sharing platform based on the company’s lineup of automatic door sensors with built-in beacon support—together with Store360 Insight, provided by Tangerine Inc. (Headquarters: Minato Ward, Tokyo, CEO: Kiyoto Hirai, hereinafter “Tangerine”).

Conventional solutions for analyzing the flow of visitors in a store require AI cameras and other expensive equipment. By incorporating visitor flow data acquired by OMNICITY, Store360 Insight provides real-time analysis of the relationships between essential indicator data for sales promotion operations, such as the number of store visitors, visitor rates, and purchase rates, and currently implemented measures. This allows for increased effectiveness of sales promotions while also keeping costs low.

OMNICITY’s information-sharing functionality also allows for quick implementation of measures for improvement based on analysis results, for example, by providing coupons and advertisements designed specifically for store visitors. Taking advantage of its 55% share of the automatic door sensor market in Japan (at some 2 million locations) and 30% of the overseas market, Optex hopes to work together with Tangerine to introduce this service to retailers, restaurants, and commercial facilities throughout Japan in addition to expanding into overseas markets in North America, Europe, and Asia through similar collaborative schemes.

Tangerine’s CEO, Kiyoto Hirai, introduced this innovative system at Beyond 2022—a conference organized by ThoughtSpot, an analytics and BI platform provider, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, from May 9 to 12, 2022—in a session titled “Transforming Legacy Retailers into Data-Driven Organizations.”
