Optex to launch a total system for monitoring disasters and facilities remotely

Optex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, President & CEO: Toru Kamimura, hereinafter “Optex”) has launched a quick monitoring service on July 14, 2022.

Optex is providing this service as a reasonably priced package that includes device costs for sensors and wireless units, usage fees for a viewer to remotely monitor devices from a computer or smartphone, and communication costs. This service expedites disaster mitigation, reduces labor costs, and helps companies implement BCP measures.

Use cases and compatible devices

The lineup includes devices that are so easy to install, so you can complete installation on pre-installed poles within 5 to 15 minutes. This allows you to quickly start monitoring multiple remote locations.

Background of service launch

Japan revised its Flood Control Act in 2015 and this has led to an expansion in flood risk areas on the flood hazard maps of municipalities. There is also a growing sense of vigilance regarding landslide disasters, leading to increased demand for remote and multi-location monitoring. However, because it often requires several dozen minutes each way to patrol remote locations regularly, it was difficult to make effective use of valuable human resources.
In addition, due to climate change and aging facilities, a company’s BCP readiness can directly affect its reputation.

Optex’s existing product lineup consists of IoT wireless units, flood sensors, and tilt sensors, and we have now added a viewer to the package. We have established a system to provide remote monitoring inexpensively and quickly.

Optex will continue to solve all kinds of social issues through its business with sensors and help to provide safe, secure, and comfortable lives to people all over the world.

  • Quick monitoring service designed for Japan market.
